Do you find time to nurture your own faith? To foster friendships with other
Christian women? Are you overbooked? Are you a multi-tasker with a full
calendar? A career woman? A busy mom?
The Bible depicts Martha as very diligent and hard working, offering generous
hospitality. When Jesus reminded her to focus on the reason for her
preparations, she made time to worship and serve with other women. In the Martha
Circle, you can nurture and cultivate your Christian growth in service, not
simply add to your "to do" list.
Martha Circle...
- is very busy -- some work, some have children, some volunteer -- we
all "do it all"
- supports friendships with our Martha sisters
- enjoys service projects for the Bethlehem Center and other local and global
missions
- strives to make a tangible impact on the world around us.
- appreciates the practical application of scriptures to our modern lives
These focus areas are in keeping with the UMW's Purpose of being a creative
and supportive fellowship of women whose purpose is to know God and expand the
concepts of global missions (paraphrased).
Each month, Martha Circle accomplishes a hands on project to help the
Bethlehem United Community Center thrive while enjoying lunch (brought by
members on a rotating basis), and a devotional or program (planned by members on
a rotating basis).
All Christian ladies are welcome. Currently, Martha Circle enjoys membership
from four different area Methodist churches. If you work downtown, live
downtown, or would just like to get right into the middle of some folks who need
your helping hands, please come!
* no meetings until August
